After a bout with cancer, you hope life can
become more meaningful, that you can have new adventures, and that you can someday dream again. My chance to try something
different came in the form of a children's book. During the months of chemotherapy, I had the chance to take long walks
around the common areas in the apartment complex where I rent. It's my backyard. And parallel to the complex runs a wide
canal rich in vegetation and a wildlife that goes beyond fish and common birds. We host seagulls, several species of
ducks, ibises, herons, and egrets. It is this amazing variety of wildlife that I encountered and photographed throughout
twelve months. It has been a healing source of inspiration, for God's creation explodes every morning just
beyond my window.
